What PexGuide collects, why, and how you stay in control. Plain words, no tricks.

Last updated: October 12, 2026

  • Nothing is collected without your consent, given in game and revocable at any time.
  • Anonymous game data: never your character name, account name or Battle.net info.
  • Your IP address is not stored. This site uses no cookies and no analytics.
  • The data is used to improve PexGuide routes, including future versions that may not all be free.
  • No sale to third parties.

Who is responsible?

The data controller is the PexGuide project (see the legal notice). Contact: contact@pexguide.com.

What data?

If you agreed to share, the addon records the following while you play, in the PexGuide.lua file:

  • quests accepted and turned in;
  • positions of NPCs and quest givers;
  • where your quest objectives progress;
  • paths walked between route steps;
  • flight masters seen;
  • the game build;
  • when you report a bug or make a suggestion: your text, along with your class, race, level and current route step.

Never: your character name, your account name, your Battle.net information. The file's path on your PC (which contains your account name) is not sent by the website, nor kept by the server.

Your IP address is not stored with your data. Our host Cloudflare processes it technically to route requests and protect the service from abuse.

If you email us, we obviously receive your email address and message, which we only use to reply to you.

Why?

To fix and improve PexGuide's routes and database (NPC positions, quests specific to WoW Forever, better paths), and to handle your bug reports and suggestions. Data from several players is cross-checked, then redistributed in aggregated form to all players in route updates.

To be clear: this data will also be used for future versions of PexGuide, which may not all be free.

Legal basis

Your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You give it in game on first launch, and you can withdraw it at any time in the PexGuide menu: Share my data (anonymous) (or /pex setup). On this website, a checkbox asks you again before every upload. Withdrawing stops future uploads; to delete what was already sent, email us (see below).

Who has access?

  • The PexGuide team, for the purposes above.
  • Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts the website, the API and uploaded files (Cloudflare Pages, Workers, R2). Cloudflare may process data outside the European Union, with the safeguards provided by the GDPR (European Commission standard contractual clauses).
  • Bug reports and suggestions are forwarded to us by email.

The data is never sold, rented or handed over to third parties, and is not used for advertising.

How long?

Raw uploaded files are kept for 12 months, then deleted. Aggregated data derived from them (for example an NPC position confirmed by several players) becomes part of the PexGuide database and may be kept indefinitely.

Your rights

You can ask to access your data, delete it, object to its use or withdraw your consent by emailing contact@pexguide.com.

Since the data is anonymous, we cannot link it to you on our own. The upload id shown after sending lets us find your file: keep it and include it in your request. It is computed from the file's content, so if you lost it, attaching the same PexGuide.lua file works too.

If you think your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with your country's data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).

This website uses no cookies, no trackers and no analytics. It loads no external resources (no third-party fonts or scripts).
